Sometimes What Feels Like an Ending Is Really a Beginning.
Great Guys didn't begin with a business plan.
It began with a divorce.
Years ago, as Tom North was going through the pain of his fourth divorce, his wife said something unexpected:
Maybe you need some help from other men.
That suggestion led Tom to a men's group called Breakthrough — and opened a door he didn't even know was there.
For the first time, he began looking at the patterns underneath his relationships.
Why did certain things trigger him?
Why did the same reactions keep showing up?
Why could a good man with good intentions still create outcomes he didn't want?
And most importantly:
Could he learn another way?
THE EPIPHANY
Over the years, Tom studied, practiced, stumbled, learned, and changed.
And eventually something became clear:
The man wasn't the problem.
Some of his tools were.
Many of the ways men protect themselves, pursue approval, hold grudges, react to hurt, or try to control an outcome were learned for a reason.
They may even have worked once.
But what protects us at one point in life can get in our way at another.
That insight became the seed of Great Guys.
FROM PURSUING TO ATTRACTING
What if men had practical tools that helped them pause before reacting?
Understand what's really driving them?
Forgive themselves and others?
Make amends?
Let go of what no longer serves them?
And stop working so hard to pursue the very things they most want —happiness, love, connection, appreciation, affection, and acceptance?
What if they could learn to attract them instead?
That's what the Great Guys tools are designed to help men practice.
Not perfection.
Better choices. Better tools.
AND THE STORY CAME FULL CIRCLE
There's an interesting ending to the divorce that helped begin this journey.
The marriage ended.
The relationship didn't.
Over time, pain gave way to understanding, forgiveness, friendship and a new kind of partnership.
Together
Today, Tom and his former wife, Sharon — the woman who helped point him toward that first men's group — are working together to bring Great Guys to other men and collaborating on companion tools for Great Gals.
Something that began with a relationship coming apart helped inspire tools for building better ones
